We offer mediation for families making age-related decisions and having those difficult conversations. We provide workshops and information sessions to those serving seniors and their families. Our goal is to bring awareness and provide education about Elder Mediation.
Kat Bellamano Kat has been a dispute resolution practitioner for over 12 years. Most of her work is with families and non-profit organizations and she specializes in high conflict and intercultural situations. She is certified as a Comprehensive Family Mediator, is on the family and civil rosters of mediate BC, the Hear the Child and Parenting Coordinator rosters and is a mentor with the Mediate BC Family Mediation Program. Kat provides group facilitation, mediation, arbitration and training and conflict assessment and intervention for small or large groups with an emphasis on relationship building and cultural awareness. Joan Cotie Joan is committed to working with clients to create dynamic, healthy relationships for families and organizations. Joan’s work is multi-disciplinary. She is a social worker, mediator and arbitrator with more than 35 years of experience. Lisa Kerwin Lisa is an accredited Family Law Mediator, and a past chair of the Canadian Bar Association’s Elder Law Section for southern Alberta, gaining broad experience with issues facing elders. Lisa has practiced law, specializing in the areas of family and estates, for 13 years – first in Alberta and now at the firm of Davis Avis Randall in Parksville. Lisa firmly believes that most families in conflict are better served by mediation – a non-litigious, private and self-directed resolution process.

Lia Versaevel Lia is the 2015-2017 President of Family Mediation Canada. For over 30 years she has specialized in Family Mediation in all its forms, helping to establish policy and legislation across Canada, as well as Melbourne, Australia and Nevada in the USA. Lia established Accord, Inc. in BC as a registered company in 1992 and has dedicated her professional life to peaceful negotiation of conflict and preventing conflict in extended families. Based out of Chemainus, Lia currently cares for her 90 year old mother who, as a retired Nurse, provides expert advice on all issues facing Elders in Canada today. Lia works throughout BC as well as in all of the Territories and Western Provinces.
